When Practice Meets Reality
When Stéphanie came back from India, after completing her yoga teacher training, everything felt clear: she had found her path. She was ready to share the knowledge and passion she had cultivated through years of practice. But very quickly, the everyday reality set in: finding studios, making herself known, creating a class schedule adapted to different types of yoga and levels of students.
On my side, I supported her with the communication: building her website, creating flyers, designing visuals for social media. Everything worked well, and by the time September arrived, her classes were already full. But one detail had slipped through the cracks: how to actually manage the students once they had signed up.
The First Steps: The Notebook, Then Excel
It all began simply, with a notebook. Stéphanie would jot down names, subscriptions, and class passes. At first, it seemed enough. But reality quickly caught up: quarterly passes turning into annual ones, packs of 10 or 20 classes that had to be tracked carefully, students’ names that weren’t always easy to remember at the start of the year… The notebook filled with cross-outs, and management became a headache.
So Stéphanie turned to Excel. It seemed more “modern” and practical. But she had to build the tables, enter all the information, and most importantly, spend countless evenings updating them. I would watch her come home from teaching, exhausted, only to spend another hour at her computer. And sometimes, I’d hear her getting frustrated at Excel…
The First App Idea (the “Fluide Yoga” Version)
Watching her struggle with her file, I wanted to help. That’s when I started developing a small app, just for her. It wasn’t very sophisticated, but it already made things easier by tracking attendance and subscriptions in a simpler way.
I called it by the name of her brand, “Fluide Yoga.” But at that stage, it wasn’t meant to go further: it was only installed on her phone, and I didn’t have the time to develop it more. It was a homemade solution, designed only for Stéphanie.
From an Idea to a Shared Project
Years went by, but the idea never left us. As we looked around, the truth became obvious: there were very few tools really designed for the specific needs of independent teachers.
Talking with other yoga, Pilates, Qi Gong, and even dance instructors, we realized Stéphanie wasn’t the only one facing this administrative struggle. The simple act of managing students and classes was becoming a source of stress, when it should be fluid and serene.
That’s when we said to ourselves: “What if we relaunched the project? But this time, to share it with others.”
The Birth of the Sessana Mobile App
So I decided to start over, this time from scratch. The goal was clear: build an app that was simple, intuitive, and designed for teachers — not for accountants or tech experts.
That’s how the Sessana mobile app was born. An application designed to easily manage students, track subscriptions and class packs, and save precious time after each session. From the start, it was built with a strong conviction: it should simplify teachers’ lives, so they can focus on what truly matters — teaching and sharing.
An Adventure in Progress
And this is only the beginning. Since the launch, we already have plenty of ideas for what comes next:
- a web app connected to the mobile version,
- an online booking system for students,
- a geolocated directory so new students can easily find their teacher,
- tools for instructors to promote workshops or retreats directly to their community.
Every conversation with teachers fuels this project and motivates us to take it further.
Conclusion – A Collective Story
The Sessana app wasn’t born from an abstract idea. It came from a lived experience, a real need that Stéphanie faced — the same one so many teachers deal with every day.
But most importantly, we believe this project doesn’t just belong to us: it belongs to everyone who uses it, who shares their feedback, their suggestions, and their vision.
Every comment, every shared experience, every improvement idea is valuable. It helps us make the app more useful, more fluid, and more aligned with your reality.
So if, while using the Sessana app, you think of a feature that would make your life easier, or an evolution that would support your work, please share it with us — in the comments, or simply by sending us a message.
Together, we can build a tool that goes far beyond management — a true companion for your teaching journey.
